Second Annual Buddy Walk - Coming Soon to Skagit County

Even though September isn't even here yet, October is fast approaching and October means DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH!!!

As many of you know this is my "favorite cause" because it affects one of my most favorite people in the whole world - my 2nd daughter, Jessica. (Read more about her in my poem "I Have a Special Child", 2 parts down...)

One of the best events for raising awareness for Down Syndrome is the National Buddy Walk. We are already planning the 2nd annual Buddy Walk for Skagit County right here in Mount Vernon, Washington at Bakerview Park on Saturday, October 11th. We are in need of volunteers to help out with the planning, organization and overall success of the day. If you would like to help, give me a call and we'll set you up!

Here are a few pictures from last year to inspire you!

ezMedic software saves lives!

Your ezMedic card is your emergency medical identification card to present whenever, wherever emergency medical information is requested! It could save your life!

Emergencies happen thousands of times every day!

Are you prepared for yours? Do you have a plan?!

In the event of an emergency, will you be able to remember your medical history? Will your child or aging parent be able to remember their important medical information? Don’t make emergency personnel guess about what medication you’re taking or what allergies or conditions you have! Be safe. Take the guesswork out of your medical history.

Everyone should have an ezMedic card - Families, Children, Pregnant Mothers, Seniors, Caregivers, Business Travelers, Vacationers, Cruise Goers, Athletes, Sports Enthusiasts, Accident Victims, anyone with any significant medical history due to disability, sickness, disease or injury.

• Protect yourself.
• Protect your children.
• Protect your aging parents.
• Protect your family members.

Keep your medical information safe and up to date, as your appointments happen, in the privacy and convenience of your own home. No records are kept on-line. ezMedic cards and reports are easily printed, saved to disc, portable memory chips or synced to your PDA. Reports can be output in PDF format or as Word documents. Whether your ezMedic records are carried digitally on a flash drive, memory stick or on paper, it is “your medical information at your fingertips”.

Don’t delay. Get started on your emergency plans today.

For only $9.99, you can create unlimited user profiles and print unlimited "cards" and reports. Shipping, handling and taxes are $2.49. Order yours today! Total for one unit - $12.48 Order Here

For multiple orders, send an e-mail from the "Contact Us" page and shipping discounts will be applied.

Gold Medal for Jessica

Jessica joined Special Olympics just after her eighth birthday this past March. She did swimming in the Spring. Now she has just concluded bowling. She bowled in her first tournament this past Saturday in Oak Harbor on the Naval Station at Whidby Lanes. Surprising us all, she placed first - winning the "gold medal" for her lane. Too much fun!! Congratulations, Jessica! Way to Go!

Buddy Walk a Success!

The Buddy Walk was a huge success and Jessica, her teacher and home care worker even made the newspaper as you can see. We had over 400 walkers there raising awareness and acceptance for all people with Down syndrome. A great time was had by all! Thank you to all who came and walked with us!

Come Walk with Me!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month!
“Come walk with me!!”

Because you are special to Jessica and our family, we would like to invite each of your family members to be our “buddies” and participate with us for Skagit County’s very first annual Buddy Walk in support of all people with Down syndrome. We would love it if you would join us on Saturday, October 13th at Bakerview Park from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be live music and entertainment, concessions (or bring a picnic), family friendly activities, goody bags and raffle prizes. There is no need to raise pledges. Our first Buddy Walk is solely to raise awareness and promote acceptance for people of all ages with Down syndrome. If you can join us, please let me know and I will get a brochure/registration form to you. Registration is $5.00 each and includes a T-shirt (goody bag, etc.) for every participant.

I am assisting the planning committee with this event. We are in DESPERATE need of volunteers! We also need more raffle prizes, give-aways, goody bag prizes, etc. (Great opportunity to advertise your business!) All donations will be acknowledged and are tax deductible. Any help you may be able to give us to make this first Buddy Walk a success would be hugely appreciated!!!

We look forward to hearing from you! Joy Caldwell
